Plastic optical fiber application technology issues

Plastic optical fiber (POF) is highly transparent polymers such as polystyrene (PS), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC) as a core material, PMMA, fluorine plastic or the like as the sheath material, a class fiber (optical fiber). Different materials have different attenuation properties of light and temperature range applications. Plastic optical fiber access network not only can be used for the final 100 to 1000 meters, can also be used in a variety of automotive, aircraft, and other delivery vehicles, it is an excellent short-distance data transmission medium.

 Plastic optical fiber is light, soft, and more resistant to damage (vibration and bending). Plastic optical fiber has excellent tensile strength, durability and small footprint characteristics. These advantages of plastic optical fiber are especially important in the success of cars application. A typical luxury car interior at least needs a few kilometers of copper line and copper cable, the weight and cost have been increased a lot, and so do the trains and other vehicles.
